Visit Stomorska
Located on the island of Solta, Stomorska is located on a beautiful cove that has long been famous for its fishing. It is the perfect destination for a cruise, especially with its protected inlet, and offers a wonderful walking tour around the water front.
You can also access Stomorska from Split, via Rogac, with a car ferry or take a catamaran passenger ferry from Split that will take you directly into the harbor.
Because of its location, shipbuilding has been part of the tradition of life in Stomorska for generations. You’ll still find wooden sailing boats under construction and there always seems to be a couple that can be found in the harbor during your stay.
There are several pizzerias to enjoy during your time in this island community, along with the occasional café, bar, or restaurant. The options are remarkably plentiful, considering the full-time population of the community is only a few hundred people.
The beaches around Stomorska are a bit rustic, with rocks and pebbles instead of soft sands, but with the right pair of water shoes it can be an amazing experience. The community has recently installed a breakwater at the entrance to the harbor as well, which has created a sheltered swimming beach to enjoy.
When you visit Stomorska, be prepared to relax, find something wonderful to eat, and have a nice swim. If you come by boat, moor up and then begin to explore. Make this your destination for a day trip during a Croatian holiday or spend all your time on Solta for a unique chance to experience local life in an authentic way.
