Visit Slovenia
Slovenia has been described as a place where all your dreams can come true, yet very few people actually make their way over to this small country in central Europe. Don’t wait too long to plan your trip here if you wish to experience what is being offered in an authentic way. Carnivals, dragons, and plenty of romance are bringing more people into Slovenia every year to chase their own dreams.
Dragons Are More Than Just Creatures
You’ll find many monuments dedicated to dragons in Slovenia as they represent paganism. Sometimes there are saints slaying these dragons, representing good triumphing over evil. In communities like Ptuj, you’ll also find dragons being part of local annual festivals and widely celebrated. Postojna even offers cave-dwelling amphibians that are locally called “baby dragons.”
Lake Bled Offers a Startling Vista
You cannot miss the emerald waters of Lake Bled that gently caress a central island. Located in the Julian Alps, a tall Romanesque castle stands tall and proud against the skyline. Rent a boat to visit the castle or just swim there in the summer thanks to the thermal springs that fuel the lake. Legend says that husbands can guarantee a happy marriage if they carry their partner up all 99 steps. Even in winter, however, the dusting of snow makes for a sight not soon forgotten.
Lace, Quicksilver, and Drama
Slovenia also has a strong literary foundation, brought to life in cities like Skofja that have embraced their medieval roots. Mercury mines brought many communities here great wealth over the years and that wealth has translated into protection through placement on the UNESCO World Heritage lists. Visit Idrija and you can even try crafting your own lace if you wish.
Slovenia offers iconic sites, incredible experiences, and rustic nostalgia that are fused together into one terrific holiday experience. Everyone should see Serbia at least once in their lives. Make this year be the year that you get to see it.
