Visit Sisak
Sisak is one of Croatia’s largest industrial centers. It’s oil refinery is one of the most important energy and revenue producers for the country. With an emphasis on agriculture as well, the combination wouldn’t seem to make this Croatian community a tempting holiday destination.
That would be a faulty assumption to make.
The Old Town of Sisak is an important destination from a historical standpoint. In 1593, the fortress defended against an attack of the Ottomans, which saved Croatia from complete occupation. It is also the location of where the Pope installed a rampart of Christianity. Inside the grounds, a museum takes visitors through the stories of the community. Events are held throughout the summer, but the interior does tend to close in winter.
There is also a spa atmosphere to this community when you dig deeper into its infrastructure. The waters in the area have a high mineral content to them and have thermal qualities. Spend some time relaxing and then perhaps explore the ruins of Siscia, the ancient Roman city, for a lovely day that takes the world away from you.
The backwaters of the rivers in the area offer fishing opportunities. Hunting grounds are also located in the region. If you’re looking to explore, Sisak can also be used as a launching point for a tour into the Lonjsko Polke Nature Park.
Sisak offers unique opportunities that allow one and all to see an authentic Croatia. Come here and you will enjoy every moment of your stay.
