Visit Protaras

Beautiful beaches. A lengthy boardwalk. Sky-blue waters that clash with cloudless and beautiful blue skies. Protaras has built itself into a resort area that has warm, sandy beaches that invite you to sink your toes in and relax. It is a quiet area with a minimal club scene, catering to more of a family environment than other resort areas on Cyprus.

Just because the area is quiet and focuses on families doesn’t mean you’ll have fewer opportunities to find some fun. Protaras is one of the premier diving destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean, with Green Bay being an excellent place for beginners to begin learning this skill. Cyclops Bay is excellent for technical diving, while the Chapel, Decosta Bay, and the Blue Hole all offer something intriguing to explore.

Cape Greco is a short trip from Protaras and worth a day excursion. Easily one of the most beautiful locations on the island, you’ll find swimming caves, volcanic boulders, and perhaps a view of the local sea monster named Ammochostos.

Outside of Protaras, you’ll find small villages with enchanting hidden gems to find. Head north to Kapparis for an even quieter beach and time alone in the beauty of Cyprus. Go northwest to see Paralimni with shops, small restaurants, and the occasional café. Three small beaches that are perfect for families can be found just north in Pernera as well.
