Visit Porec

Located on the Istrian Peninsula, you’ll find numerous recommendations to visit the harbor, coastline, and old town in Porec during a stay.

This community, which is nearly 2,000 years old, offers even more if you’re willing to explore a little. Porec is a popular destination in western Croatia that’s steeped in history and home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Euphrasian Basilica. The peaceful town offers the cultural interest of a regal historical town along with the relaxing beaches of a Mediterranean climate. A large range of accommodation is available for your holiday in Porec, either in the town’s centre to allow easy access to tourist hotspots, or in outlying areas along the coast for easy beach access. With narrow streets, impressive architecture and a tranquil harbour protected by the island of Saint Nicholas, Porec
holidays are sure to charm any visitor. Here are just a few of the options you could consider during your stay here:

The Euphrasian Basilica

Since 1997, this Basilica has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you see the main entrance to it, you’ll understand why. The most striking feature is its mosaics, which offer some of the best examples of Byzantine art that you’ll find anywhere in the world.

The Baredine Cave

This is the only open geological monument in the region. A visit is necessary to determine if the stalagmites actually do resemble the Leaning Tower of Pisa or the Virgin Mary. A tour typically takes about 45 minutes and a new guided tour in one of 7 different languages starts every 30 minutes.

The Roman Castrum

The main streets of Porec have been maintained in their original forms from the ancient city. There’s a Roman square with two temples attached, a few houses from the city’s Romanesque period, and some of the 12th century defensive walls can still be seen.

With numerous museums, galleries, and the historic town centre to explore, Porec offers you more than you could ever imagine. Spend time here, whether for a weekend trip or for a full holiday, and you will find something that grabs your attention and never lets it go.

Porec holidays offer a number of Blue Flag beaches on which to bask away lazy summer days, with plenty of water sports available for the more adventurously-minded. In the cool evenings, enjoy a glass of local red wine or a hearty bowl of maneštra soup in one of the harbour’s
many seafront bars and restaurants.

Holiday in Porec with children

Family fun at the beach is a central part of any Mediterranean break. Fortunately, Porec is ready to meet your holiday desires! There are many spotless beaches that feature Blue Flag status in the Porec area, and here you’ll be able to relax in serene surroundings enjoying the pristine, clean waters of the Adriatic Sea. Alternatively, if you have come for a quiet holiday, Porec offers a fantastically scenic coastline and countryside. Kick back, relax and recharge your batteries with the whole family.
