The village of Podstrana is situated not far from the popular tourist resort of Split. The small settlement sits in a stunning location on the Adriatic coast surrounded by lush vegetation and picture perfect beaches. Podstrana blends the historic beauty of the Dalmatian Coast with the excitement and buzz of a modern seaside resort.
The unspoilt beaches in and around Podstrana are second to none with stretches of clean white sand and crystal clear waters; making the village an unforgettable holiday destination. There are a surprisingly large range of activities available in the village including; tennis and
volleyball with a number of courts in the village, and facilities to rent equipment, if you didn’t want to pack your racket. There is a diving school, for those who want to learn to dive or check out the beautiful marine life of the area. Podstrana also offers a wide range of water sports available on the beaches of the village, with facilities for jet-skiing, water skiing, canoeing and paddle boating.
There are a number of boat tours running in the area, as well as many places you’re able to hire boats out yourself and explore the coastline. If you want to party and dance into the early hours then the popular city of Split is a short journey down the coast. There are a large number of bars and clubs in the city as well as a number of beachside clubs and music venues.
It would be a real shame if you didn’t sample some of the traditional Dalmatian-style cuisine while visiting Podstrana and there are plenty of places in the town and the surrounding villages where you can try some. Fresh fish and seafood are the most popular dishes, seeing as the town is a fishing village and the fish comes fresh off the boat into the taverns and restaurants.

The long stretches of beach at Podstrana are the perfect place to relax and unwind in the Dalmatian sunshine, the calm blue waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. There are also a number of water sports available as well as boat and sailing trips up and down the coast. The town itself is home to some beautiful old villas and buildings that date back centuries.
If you’ve had your fill of sunbathing and swimming there are a few beach volleyball courts to play on and the promenade is perfect for a stroll. Excursions to the other cities of the region will give visitors a real feel for the history and culture of the region. The more active visitors might fancy mountain climbing or hiking along the pine-scented trails of the surrounding countryside.
