Located in the mountains of Cyprus, Platres is a beautiful resort destination that has been created from one of the best orchard and vineyard growing regions on the island. This hill resort is an excellent starting point for those wishing to follow a Troodos Cycling Route or wish to explore the kilometers of hiking trails that have been developed in the region
Several natural wonders are out there, waiting to be found when visiting Platres. Make your way to Kalidonia Waterfall and you’ll find a rugged, rocky outcropping with a gentle, spraying waterfall that is beautiful in its simplicity. At Millomeris Waterfall, you’ll find more of a cavernous experience, with a stunning rock face stretching toward the sky.
There is also the perennial stream which flows through Platres, giving the village year-round access to water. Across the stream is the old stone Milia Bridge, a perfect and picturesque moment of discovery to enjoy during your excursions. The bridge is one of the oldest surviving landmarks on the island.
Additional trails can lead you to the area of Ayia Irini and the location of Medieval monasteries that once operated in the area. Cycling is available as well, with the main trail taking you to Milia Bridge. You may also find events or activities available to enjoy at the old municipal market, which is now called Giorgos Seferis Hall. The Troodos Mountains are the perfect outdoor paradise. Make your way to Platres and you’ll be able to find an inviting trail that will lead you toward your own intriguing destination.
