When visiting Medulin, two things typically come to mind: the amazing shoreline and the numerous camping opportunities. The community is located on the very southern end of the Istrian Peninsula. You’ll find expansive views of the Adriatic waiting for you and the majestic sunsets that seem to come with regularity every night.
Dinosaur prints found on the Premantura peninsula and small surrounding islands take you back to far prehistoric times, and the first traces of “tourism” originate from the Roman period, when the aristocracy recognised the beauty of the landscape and the pleasant climate as this oasis for peace and enjoyment far from the stress characteristic for Rome.
Apart from the historic monuments, Medulin is known for its beaches. The indented coast has sand, pebble and rocky beacheson which you can sunbathe or find shelter in the shade of pines that are a hundred years old. Those who want to get away from the hustle can find their peace on one of the islands of the Mediterranean archipelago.
Although you could lie around and bake in the sun on the beaches of Medulin, the community has created a series of activities for you to enjoy. Scuba and snorkeling is excellent in the area, especially if you are an experienced diver. You’ll find morning floating Yoga classes to enjoy that can be followed up with a nice hike along one of the paths or trails in and around the city.
One of the best ways to explore Medulin is to rent a bicycle and tour the city on your own. Numerous hidden gems are waiting for you to find. Boat tours can give you a unique view of the city, the peninsula, and the surrounding islands if you prefer as well.

Vižula
Ruins of the Roman residence of Emperor Constantine Crisp on Vižula peninsula is a great ancient archaeological complex which is located in the very center of the Medulin bay. This complex contains the remains of ancient tombs, remains of settlements of the older Neolithic period and the remains of a roman country villa. This complex is of great importance because it is proof of the existence of human culture in the area of Medulin during the older Neolithic period.
