Visit Mazotos
Located about 22km from Larnaca, Mazotos puts you close to the sea. The beach here is nice and quiet, extending for about 7km with is beautiful dark sands. The sea around this area is surprisingly shallow, filled with sand shelves. No flags or lifeguards are present, but the Chamber of Commerce for Cyprus notes that the beach is quite safe.
The village itself offers a lovely tour that takes visitors through the local culture and history of the region. At the same time, you receive wonderful views of the blue sea, creating a naturally relaxing experience. Small gardens can be found throughout the village. The main square of Mazotos is dominated by the main village church, which has been dedicated to St. George. You’ll find traditional coffee shops located next to the church, offering warmth and support during a cool Cypriot morning. The chapels of Virgin Mary Petountas and Saint Xenophon Xorinos are worth visiting for their views as well.
The Art Museum of Costas Argyrou offers exhibits that focus on local agricultural lifestyles from the region. You’ll also find an infusion of local, religious, and national traditions with many of the exhibits. Pair this with a stop at the Camel park, where you can feed, pet, and ride the camels. Mazotos is a village that offers a traditional take on island life while providing visitors access to one of the cleanest beaches on the island. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine and relax while finding something intriguing around every bend.
