Marmaris is on the southern coast of Turkey and is a port on the Mediterranean Sea. Marmaris is originally a Greek word with the essence of glittering and shining. Feel the History At Marmaris Castle
According to traditional stories, there has been a castle at Marmaris since 3000 BC. The castle was rebuilt by Alexander the Great after his forces took the small town in 334 BC and then it was rebuilt from scratch in the early 16th century by Suleiman the Magnificent. Since 1979, the castle at Marmaris has been being renovated in order to preserve the historical condition of the building. It has also been converted into a museum with several galleries to explore.
Take the Trip to the Lycian Rock Tombs
Hand-carved into the side of a cliff, these rock tombs make for an incredible adventure. Lycians differed from the Hellenistic tradition of separating the dead from the living as many of these tombs were completely integrated into the city itself. For the tombs that weren’t integrated into the city proper, they were generally placed on a hillside that faced the sea. This is believed to be because the belief was the souls of the dead would be released to the afterworld by a winged creature and these tombs made that process much easier.
Rest and Relax at the Marmaris Marina
The Marmaris marina is a peaceful place where you can rent a boat for awhile, have an extended private cruise, or simply grab a bite to eat and have a drink with someone you love. Take a relaxing walk during the day to explore the various boats and yachts or hire one to explore from a sea perspective. Enjoy the active nightlife along the marina too and maybe find a party on one of the anchored boats. Either way, the Marmaris marina is a great place to just have fun.

What to see and do in Marmaris ?
Day trip to Ephesus
Take a trip to Ephesus, about 240 km away from Marmaris. This is probably one of the best preserved remains of the Roman Empire; when you walk through the streets of this old city, the way people lived and the houses and buildings in which they lived and worked in the Roman Empire almost come alive. Many people find that even the likes of the Pyramids or the ruins of Pompeii will pale to insignificance beside the brilliance of Ephesus.
A visit to Pamukkale
You will never come across a unique sight like that of the so-called “Cotton Castle” at Pamukkale. The ever-flowing natural spring waters, which are so very rich in calcium, cascade down the hill; and as calcium reacts with carbon dioxide in atmosphere, it turns in chalk. This forms the famous travertines of different colors and shapes, in terrace-like forms, with pools and overhanging fascinating stalactite shapes. The ruined city of Hierapolis which dates back to 2000 BC lies buried here. The water here is good for many allergies, skin diseases, blood pressure, etc.

Marmaris Palace Hotel, barely 40 km from the Dalaman airport, is a very popular hotel. It consists of a main block of over 150 rooms and over 200 small bungalows. This hotel is set on a pine forested hillside and enjoys a private beach area next to the Turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. All rooms have modern amenities like air-conditioning, TV, telephones, etc. The hotel has a large main swimming pool, a smaller quieter pool, a children’s pool and a water slide pool with four water slides. There is also an indoor swimming pool which can be heated. Days can be spent relaxing, taking boat trips around the bay or exploring Marmaris. It has good sports facilities such as billiards, mini golf, tennis, table tennis etc.; it also has beauty centre, sauna, Turkish bath, fitness centre, etc on the premises.
