Visit Kaunas

Kaunas is a city that has centered itself around its culture. The Old Town, which can be found at the confluence of the Neris and Nemunas Rivers, allow visitors to explore architectural monuments, historical buildings, and numerous galleries and museums.

Kaunas is also the home to national monuments of high importance to the people of Lithuania. This includes the Eternal flame, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and statues of several Renaissance figures.

Many call Kaunas the “City of Museums” because there is such a great abundance of them. The Devil’s Museum is one of the most fascinating, with over 2,000 different carvings and sculptures of the devil in varying interpretations. The Avitation Museum, Zoological Museum, and the Museum of Lithuanian Folk Instruments are all worth a lingering tour as well.

Several boutique museums are found throughout Kaunas as well. Many famous natives have had their homes turned into a small museum that celebrates their lives.

There are several parks and open public spaces to enjoy during a stay in Kaunas as well. About 10% of the total land area of the city is dedicated to park lands. The Kaunas Botanical Garden, founded in 1923, is a beautiful recreational area that showcases local plant life.

Theaters are popular in Kaunas as well, with stages dedicated to dance, drama, and even puppetry.

If you’ve ever wanted to get to know Lithuanian culture better, then Kaunas should be your next destination. It is a place that calls you to put on some comfortable shoes and go exploring.
