Visit Lakatamia

Located centrally on the island of Cyprus, Lakatamia is a suburb of Nicosia and offers visitors the chance to explore while experience Cypriot culture.  Begin by making your way to Buyuk Han. This historic 16^th century inn has been converted into a shopping center. You’ll find several cafés to sample, boutique shops to explore, and a central courtyard that will let you relax in a family-friendly environment.

A tour of the Cyprus Museum is another opportunity to get to know the culture of the island and Lakatamia in general. It is the oldest and the largest archeological museum on Cyprus and is the home of several artifacts that have been found during the various excavations that have occurred on the island over the generations.

For those who love landmarks that thrive through history, then the Famagusta Gate in the Nicosia walls is certainly something not to be missed. It was the chief gate of the city at the time and is an excellent example of Venetian architecture. Additional tours are available at the Classic Motorcycle Museum, Leventis Gallery, and the Office Gallery. Several small museums and boutique galleries can be found throughout the city as well.

If you’re looking for a moment of quiet, then try heading to Alsos Forest during your stay. It may be a municipal park, but it also forms an unbroken trail from Aglandjia to Pallouriotissa. You’ll find several hiking and driving trails to explore, along with playgrounds for the kids and other nature-based activities.
