Visit Krapina

Surrounded by rolling green hills, the town of Krapina is a charming little community that can be found in Northern Croatia. You’ll find a beautiful central square, bricked pathways that lead through chestnut trees, and expansive meadows and green spaces awaiting your arrival.

Be sure to visit the Krapina Neanderthal Museum during your stay. There was a half-cave discovered in the hills just outside the city in 1899 that was filled with nearly a thousand fossil remains that were identified as being Neanderthal. The museum is dedicated to the discovery and offers a full exhibition on the theory of evolution.

Not far from Krapina is the Krapinske Toplice, where several thermal springs are located. An extensive tourism infrastructure around spa offerings has developed, offering numerous ways to relax and pamper yourself.

Linguist Ljudevit Gaj was born in Krapina and his home has been turned into a small, but interesting museum that takes visitors through the story of his work and life.
