Visit Hvar

Just off of the Dalmatian Coast sits the island of Hvar, surrounded by the Adriatic Sea. Visitors often come to see the extensive lavender fields in bloom or to enjoy the fresh water springs and the fruit orchards they support, but there is more to this community than rolling hills and agricultural areas. Here are just a few ideas to consider.

Jagodna Beach

With enough space for everyone and large enough waves to have a little fun, you’ll get the best of everything at this beautiful beach. If you head out into the water, bring a surfboard or some other equipment to maximize your good time.

St. Stephan’s Square

Located in Hvar Town, this large square opens up to the sea, spilling out one of the best vistas you’ll see this year. During the summer, you’ll find plenty of large yachts filling up the spaces in the harbor below. There are also several all-night discos which are open during the tourist season.

Take the Wine Tour

Hvar is also one of the most famous winemaking areas in Croatia. Go to the southern part of the island for red wine, or head to Jelsa or Stari Grad for white wines. Don’t forget to pick up some of the lavender oils and soaps that are widely available in season with a glass of wine so you can take Hvar home with you as well.

Island life is always a little more laid back, relaxed, and slow in pace. It’s the perfect place for you to unwind after a long week or to spend an extended holiday. With a culture that dates back to at least 3,500 BC, you’ll find something unique that speaks to your heart here.
