Visit Dinan
Dinan is without a doubt one of the best-preserved small towns in Brittany, with its 3.8 kilometers of city walls, half-timbered houses, harbor and cobbled streets filled with art galleries and craft shops.
The most attractive part of Dinan is without a doubt the port where you arrive if you take a boat from Dinard or Saint-Malo. In many of the old stone houses there are restaurants and shops. Take a walk along the old path or cross the 15th-century stone bridge to Lanvallay to find out about the town in the Maison de la Rance Discovery Center.
Dinan is designated as the Ville d’Art et d’Histoire (city of art and history), and the city is filled with artists, sculptors, engravers, bookbinders, glassblowers and more.
Dinan’s old town has narrow streets where time seems to have stood still. Around Place des Merciers you will find the best examples of the town’s half-timbered houses.
Walk the 158 steps to the top of the 40 meter high Tour de l’Horloge for a wonderful view of Dinan and the surrounding area you can see as far as Mont-Saint Michel on a clear day.
