Fountains Square Is Where You Want To Be

Located in downtown Baku, this public square was reconstructed within the last 5 years to give it a much more modern feel. There are new fountains that have been added and the craftsmanship of the surrounding stones gives the square a very unique feel. There are plenty of planted palm trees in the new Fountains Square and these seem right at home with the 19^th century buildings that surround the area. If you get hungry, you can stop for something local… or grab some McDonald’s – the choice is yours.

If you’re looking for some nightlife, but it’s the middle of the day, then the resort area of Shikhov is one of the more popular destinations to find. It’s got a beautiful, wide beach to enjoy, but it also has a very massive oil platform that you can see as well. There is a watch tower that will help you get some good views and you can drive your vehicle right up the water’s edge if you want.

Maybe Shopping Is Your Thing Instead?

If the weather isn’t cooperating, then maybe a day at Park Bulvar is in the works for you. It’s a six story shopping mall in the heart of downtown Baku that can help you get to the ancient inner city to explore if you want as well. You can go beyond the shopping experience and enjoy a show at the planetarium in the mall, catch a movie at the 3D cinema, or even go bowling if you want. There’s the typical food court cuisine which is highly affordable, but there’s also fine dining experiences to be had at this mall as well.

There’s also the walk down Baku Boulevard that can be done as well. It runs right along the seafront and you’ll find monuments, fountains, and even an amusement park to enjoy if you want. It’s a convenient place to transfer between points and is a great place to go for a morning jog if you want a little extra exercise.

When you’re ready for the evening, most of the clubs in Baku stay open until down and are sprinkled throughout the city. Eastern and Western clubs all feature local cuisine and many of them are near Fountains Square.
