Visit Anguilla
Anguilla is an island in the eastern Caribbean and serves as one of the northernmost Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. Anguilla was First colonized by English settlers in 1650, and was incorporated into British dependency along with the neighbouring islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the early 19th century. This incorporation didn’t pass without much objection of the Anguillan peoples. In 1980 Anguilla formally withdrew from the territory, and thus becoming a separate British dependency, which it remains today.
An internally self-governing British overseas territory, Anguilla’s military defence is the responsibility of the United Kingdom. As a British overseas terrirtory, the Brithish government is represented in the territory by a formally apointed Governor. The head of government is a local elected Chief Minister.
It is east of the Virgin Islands and north of Saint Martin. It is a place where life is unhurried and problems ae uncomplicated. Settled more than 3,000 years ago, those who made this island their home quickly found that living in harmony with the forests and the shore made life a wonderful experience.
There are 33 beaches available to visitors on Anguilla and each has its own charm to explore. Some are served by the island’s 5-star luxury resorts. Others are served by small inns or stand on their own with a certain rustic appeal. Even during the busy season, the beaches are relatively uncrowded, which means you can enjoy the pristine waters and warm sunshine without worry.
The island also features an award-winning culinary scene, featuring cultural flavors from local ingredients that are often taken from the sea on the same day. You’ll find it to be a culture of quiet sophistication.
If you feel the need for an adventure, Anguilla has you covered. You can charter a full-day cruise to explore the various inlets and bays around the island, schedule deep-sea fishing, or explore the island of the Prickly Pear. Anguilla Watersports offers a water park to enjoy and there is plenty of diving and snorkeling to go around.
You will find that Anguilla is a family-friendly destination that offers something for everyone. It is a stunning destination that must be seen to be believed.
